Get Schengen Insurance Sorted Today
For travellers in Europe, Schengen is a magical word. You can travel to 26 amazing and culturally diverse countries without the hassle of 26 visa applications and 26 border crossings.
However, navigating the Schengen visa process can be tricky. Travellers have reported difficulty finding a travel insurance policy to satisfy the visa’s minimum insurance requirements. But luckily, Columbus Direct has travel insurance options for Schengen visa applicants.
If you’re applying for a Schengen Visa, you’ll be pleased to hear that the Overseas Medical Expenses and Emergency Repatriation section of the policy provides up to $25 million of cover. This includes certain cover for:
- Emergency medical, surgical and hospital treatment
- Emergency medical repatriation
- Repatriation of your mortal remains
Please refer to the policy wording for full terms, conditions and exclusions of cover. Remember that cover for pre-existing medical conditions is on application. If pre-existing condition cover is available, you may be required to pay an additional premium for it.
Good to Know
The Schengen Visa travel insurance requirements are outlined in the EU Visa Code (Article 15). It is up to the country assessing your Schengen visa application to decide if the insurance you have purchased is in keeping with the requirements.
Differences in interpretation can occur, so we recommend contacting the embassy or consulate of the country who will be processing your visa for information on what cover they require.
